Community Survey, Building Project, and Other Items

Community Survey

Our school district has requested a Needs Assessment Survey conducted by the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB).  The survey is designed to help us assess our strengths and areas of needed improvement, with a focus on improved student achievement.  We would like your opinions and judgments in response to the brief survey linked below.  All responses are anonymous.  Just click the link below, or paste it in your browser and follow the instructions. Thank you for your participation and helping to make improvements for our students.

Building Project

As the weather warms up, the contractors are getting ready to go to work.  We have started to receive materials for the project and will continue to receive more as spring progresses.  These deliveries are completed by large semi-trucks and require a lot of space to move around.  We generally have them drive down by the CWC and then go west to the athletic field fence and back to the project area.  I mention this because we need you and your child's help in keeping these areas open.  Parking gets tight, but there is enough room if everyone parks away from the fence area.  We have cones up to help with knowing where to park.  We know it's inconvenient, but it's part of the construction process.  If your child has any questions on where to park, he/she should stop into the high school office.

Other Items

The end of the school year is rapidly approaching and signals several things happening.  First, is Iowa Assessments.  These are required by the state and the district uses the data to plan instruction, interventions, and other related items for the following year.  Please take a few minutes to visit with your child of the importance that he/she does his/her best on the tests.  We need as accurate of information as possible to help with our planning.

Second, registration is going on throughout the district.  If you have a child who will be 4 years old by September 15th, please contact the elementary office for more information or to register your child.  If you have a 3 year old child, we also have a program for them that meets two half days per week to expose them to schooling.  Again, you can check with the elementary office for more information.  In addition, high school students have been working on registration for next year.  Please check with your child to make sure they have completed and submitted their registration for next school year.  All of this helps the district as we plan for scheduling and staffing for next school year.

Finally, a reminder that we will be having school on the Thursday before Easter.  It was designated as a make-up day on our calendar and because of the days we've missed, we will have classes that day.  Friday before Easter and the Monday after Easter will remain as vacation days.
